art = individuality.

i’ve been thinking a lot about individuality and self expression lately. and considering my love for the study of art this quote really says something to me. marcel duchamp was an artist who challenged the idea of what is art and forced a conservative world to question their own comfort level. he wasn’t working on art for art’s sake. he was defying the usual context for art expression and working towards a truly avant-garde movement.
i think what i love so much about art is that its a raw and genuine moment for the artist in real time. whatever the subject, medium, or context, an artist makes conscious decisions that visually speaks to their audience, evoking some sort of response. it really is a glimpse into their life that allows you to connect with them and think about why they chose to express themselves and share that moment. what better way to express your individuality than through art?
turn up the music, grab a paintbrush and get to work.
spring showers.

i love walking around a city after a spring shower.
accents.
i don’t think it matters how small or big your apartment is… accent walls are a perfect way to add flair and personality without overwhelming a space.

no excuses.
hi to anyone reading this,
so i’ve neglected my blog lately. no good reason so i’m just going to jump right back into it.
sincerely,
palmer
ps. i plan to blog overtime. even if just for my own enjoyment. i’ll see where it takes me since i haven’t quite figured out what direction my blog nonsense is headed in.
life in a fishbowl.

this past weekend i started experimenting with a homemade fish eyed lens i made. it’s amazing how even the seemingly dullest object can be interesting when viewed through a fish eyed lens. sometimes it helps to look at life in a different way, through a different lens.
eye candy.

so charming. what i wouldn’t give to be a window display designer.

express yourself.

don’t forget to color. grab a coloring book and get to work.
beauty in unusual places.

never discount what you may find in vintage shops. this is the top of my bed stand. a set of two. it’s possible that colors, patterns and textures can inspire even the most uninterested passerby.
inspiration.

color palette originally used to inspire my bedroom. i’m one to choose the bold colors and let it speak for itself. i can figure out what i’m trying to say later.
black and white.

don’t forget to sometimes draw just black and white and inside the lines. i focused so much on thinking outside the box, i forgot how much fun it can be to do the exact opposite once in awhile.
